Fairy tales really do happen.

Tiger Lily and her puppies had been on the Maricopa County Animal Care and Control Euthanasia list for a week. Her puppies were saved by another rescue, however Tiger Lily was left behind. Believed to have been used for breeding; Tiger Lily was very malnourished, and suffering from a pulmonic heart condition.   Tiger Lily had been through so much already and needed the surgery to save her life.   Through the support of the Pittie Me Rescue community, the Elser family's generous donation and her loving foster family Dan and Liz, Tiger Lily received her heart surgery and recovered nicely. With just a few months of rest and healing, Tiger Lily was ready to find her forever home.

While attending an adoption event several months ago, Tiger Lily was lucky to have met a wonderful family that  fell in love with her.  Although they weren't able to adopt her at the time, her adorable personality stuck with them.  Sadly their doggie Hailey of 15 years recently passed away and the family knew that when they were ready, Lily was the one for them.  

The Trzebny family wanted to meet Tiger Lily again to make sure the connection was still there.  After just a few moments they knew Tiger Lily still had their heart and sealed the deal by starting the two week foster-to-adopt process.  Lily settled right in as if she knew that the Trzebny family was where she was supposed to be the whole time.

Lily overcame all her woes and finally has a place to call her own.   TIGER LILY ADOPTED!!!!

Jake, a 3-4 month old Black Lab/Hound mix spent his days tied up, unwanted and unloved.  Lucky for Jake, he was rescued by a friend of a PMR volunteer! Only a few hours of being listed for adoption, Jake had an interested party, Atria an 11 year old girl that is a HUGE dog lover!!! Atria did her homework and read all the books she could get her hands on about training dogs, dog, and dog nutrition! After saving up all of her birthday and chore money over the last year, Atria was able to save $230 and she decided (with the help of her mom, Adrienne) that Jake was the pup for her!

Last week, Jake started his 2 week foster to adopt and was welcomed by a HUGE “welcome” sign made by Atria, a squeaky  toy  bought with her own money, and a blanket laid out on the floor where she would teach Jake his “go to place”!

 Jake will now live the life as a permanent resident in Mesa and also have a “home” in Pinetop where he will spend his time with his new family on an acre hiking, going to the lake, getting lots of love, belly rubs!

 We love happy beginnings!

poor thing.  I just took her out for just before bedtime pee.  She did not move an inch from the spot I put her down in - we aren't pulling her by the leash - just pickup and place. Don't want to teach her she has no control over herself by pulling her.   I tied her to Willy's tie and walked away to give her some space.  Not one muscle moved other than all over body trembling until I went to bring her in - at which point she ran (but was tied remember) screaming like I was trying to kill her.  Hasn't peed except for in the crate coming home, pooped when Dan took her out, though I think it was a side effect from her multiple expression of her anal glands.   Gotta give the other kids a lot of credit.  Even Slugger the Stupid is being freakishly gentle with her.  Emmi has gone for a few kisses - and the little one responds to her a little.  Willy is very out of character.  When Little One screamed when I went to pick her up outside, he whined and went to her.   Since she is refusing to budge from the spot she is placed, I just put her on one of the big dog beds.  Our kids aren't shy, they will jump on it with her so she won't be alone.  We haven't taken the leash off since she came home (need to be able to catch her after all...) so she is tied to the footboard of the bed so she doesn't wander off in the middle of the night.  As much as she trembles when picked up, I think it pretty safe to assume today was her first time.  Despite a roof over her head, she is convinced we are trying to kill her.  I hate this part.  Doesn't matter what the old life was, it's all they knew, and the don't understand why their world has ended.  We will work it out at her pace, but it is extra killer with her because of her eyes.  Dan isn't the only one that needs a blindfold...Will report in after she is home from her spay tomorrow.  Kim, when would you be around on Saturday or Sunday about the harness?  I have to start work late tomorrow to get her to PAWS and as a result will be working late.  Dan is picking her up when she is ready to come home - so no worries there.  I have a relatively short work day on Saturday but I am pretty sure you will be saving a dog somewhere, so anytime you are available, I can make it work. 

Tiger Lily was rescued from Maricopa Animal Care and Control, in Phoenix, AZ on February 12, 2013. Lily, along with her puppies, were on the Euthanasia list for over a week. Her puppies were saved by another rescue, but they chose to leave Lily behind. I had to give her the chance she's so deserving of! Lily is such a sweetheart and quite the cute little pittie, with an adorable underbite! We named her Tiger Lily because she has beautiful brindle "tiger" stripes on her back. Lily also has the cutest habit of clanking her teeth together. If she were a boy, we would have named her Chatter, but Tiger Lily fits her just perfectly! Lily's milk is starting to dry up. We will wait a little while longer before we have her spayed. Right now, she is living at rescue, but we would really love to find her a foster home. It's been four days since honorary pittie, Petal, gave birth to six beautiful babies. Thank you Rhonda and Jason, with Helping Orphaned Hounds, for assisting. She had two girls (one apricot in color, the other tan) and four boys (one apricot in color, two all black, and one black with a little white stripe on his head and white on his chest). Petal is pretty young herself, about one, and this appears to be her first litter (and her last!). When the babies were born, Petal knew that it was her job to eat the afterbirth and sever the umbilical cords with her teeth. Unfortunately, she chewed down too far on one of the babies, and actually bit his belly, causing him to bleed out. Thankfully, we got the bleeding under control! Petal's last baby was born not breathing, but thankfully Rhonda was able to get him to breath. Non of the babies were latching on very well, so I spent the night with them, supplementing with goat's milk. By morning, four of the six had learned to nurse, so only two needed extra help. Sadly, by early afternoon, the little boy who had lost blood, began to quickly deteriorate. I rushed him to Power Rd. Animal Hospital, but he lost his life before I arrived. Since mama's name is Petal, we have decided to give all of her babies' flower names. We have named the little boy, who didn't survive, Peri, which is an Israeli name for flower. Peri means "fallen angel". The other babies are Saffron (tan girl), Linnea (apricot girl), Clover (apricot boy), Xeni (all black boy), and Poppy (boy that's black with white). All babies are nursing well and gaining weight. Clover, leads the charge, with a full 2 oz gain in four days! Stay tuned for more updates and pictures....
